Den Haag – Donderdagmiddag 5 januari heeft de Marechaussee samen met de politie een verwarde man aangehouden op het Plein in Den Haag. De man liep schreeuwend voor het gebouw van de Tweede Kamer en ging plotseling rennend op Marechaussees van de HRB af. De politie meldt dat de man gewond is geraakt bij zijn aanhouding door een schot van de Marechaussee, of dit door een kogel komt is onduidelijk. Na de aanhouding is een verdachte tas aangetroffen. De hele omgeving van het Plein is afgesloten en anti-terreur specialisten van het DSI (Dienst Speciale Interventies) zijn ter plaatse. Ook de brandweer staat stand-by.
Update 18:25: De afzettingen worden opgeheven, het Plein is weer toegankelijk na geheel ontruimd te zijn.
Update 19:10: Een 59-jarige man uit Den Haag meldde zich eerder vandaag bij een Haags politiebureau uit onvrede over zijn uitkering. Nadat de politie zei hem niet te kunnen helpen, is de man op het Plein in Den Haag op Marechaussees afgelopen. Hij schreeuwde dat hij explosieven in zijn tas had en gooide vervolgens de tas naar de Marechaussees van het HRB. Een van hen loste daarop een schot. Forensisch experts hebben de eigendommen van de man onderzocht.

Update 18:25: The ‘Plein’ square has been released. All the anti-terror units have left the area.
Update 19:10: A 59-year-old male from The Hague showed up earlier today at a The Hague police station, angry about his payment settlement. After police told him they could not help him, the man walked towards Militairy police officers on the Plein in The Hague. He shouted that he had explosives in his bag and then threw the bag towards the officers. One of them then fired a shot. Forensics have investigate the man’s belongings.
